Our services

"Play is often talked about as if it were relief from serious learning. But for children, play is serious learning. Play is really the work of childhood". Fred Rogers

Wobbler room (12 months+)

Our centres’ Wobbler / Junior Toddler Room strive to be a “home away from home”. We here at Tots to Teens understand how hard it can be for parents and guardians to hand over the care of their child for the first time. Our dedicated and experienced carers make this adjustment an easy one. We provide a personal level of attention and care to all children in our care. Prior to your child starting with us, carers and the Manager will discuss with you your child’s care plan. We will continue your routine from home. Your child will settle into Tots to Teens over a period of days or weeks. We will discuss all aspects of our care in great detail, accommodating any special request you may have (where reasonably possible).

Toddler room (18 months +)

The “Toddler Room” is where your child will graduate! The age range is only a guide and depending on your child’s overall development he/she may move at different ages. Every child develops at different stages and we urge parents not to feel anxious if their child does not move to another stage within a given time period. A period of time will lapse before your child will move permanently to the Toddler room. We encourage your child to visit the Toddler room for short periods of time when the room is quiet. Staff are always on hand to discuss your child’s progress and two way communications is very important at this stage. Report are recorded each day, detailing your child’s day i.e. day’s activities, nappies etc. A member of staff will always be on hand to talk to you about your child’s day.

Early Childhood Education and Care (ECCE) classes

Your child’s transition is usually quicker as they are that little bit older and in general more confident in their environment. The Early Childhood Care and Education (ECCE) Scheme provides early childhood care and education for children of pre-school age. Children are eligible for the ECCE scheme according to their date of birth (see DCEDIY age eligibility table for further details). The school year is normally from September to June.

Routines and Activities:

Once again we focus on your child’s overall development and use a variety of resources, materials and equipment to aid and refine your child’s physical, intellectual, linguistic, social and emotional skills. Children are encouraged to engage in more autonomous play, self-discovery and exploration. We base our work and play based curriculum on the Irish Curriculum Framework - Aistear. Through Aistear we continue to refine and aid your child’s development of their self-help skills, autonomous learning and social interactions. We promote positive self-awareness and encourage confidence in their own ability to direct their learning and development within the Early Years environment. The children are involved in circle time, which provides an opportunity for each child to share news, stories, plan their day, engage in show & tell activities, learn songs, rhymes etc.

Outdoor play is also extremely important all year round (weather permitting) and children are given plenty of opportunity to go outside, therefore we would ask that you provide wellington boots and a warm coat/waterproofs in the winter months.

School Aged Care (Afterschool club)

At Murrintown Community Childcare, we offer out of school care for school aged children. The morning drop off service provides parents with the opportunity to avail of childcare within the facility before school starts.  Children will walk with staff members after morning drop off service to the local school.

The after school club provides a collection service from the local school and on arrival at the after school club we aim provide a relaxing environment and wind down time for your children after their days work!

The children in the after school club can enjoy many activities, including a selection of games, their own library collection, music, indoor and outdoor activities.   For children who have homework, our staff our happy to support them complete any tasks they have been set (Homework club has been suspended due to COVID-19 restrictions. Please refer to our homework policy).
